Routing a Corded Probe through the Cool Cube™ 03

The Cool Cube™ 03 has clear plastic, external pockets for holding a temperature monitor (or other things) during use. When using a device with a corded probe, here’s how you can do it:

  1. After packing out the product, place the probe within the chamber as if it were the product.
  2. Route the cord to a corner of the Cool Cube™, where the panels meet.
  3. Place the last PCM panel on top to complete the chamber.
  4. Close the lid of the Cool Cube™
  5. Zip the two zippers around the cord where it comes out
  6. Plug the cord into the temperature monitor and place it in a pocket of the Cool Cube™.

**Best Practice: Condition the probe to the target temperature before integrating it into the Cool Cube™ chamber.

The Cool Cube™ 28 is equipped with an elastic, external pocket to hold a temperature monitor (or other things) during use. When using a device with a corded probe, here’s how you can do it:

  1. After packing out the product, place the probe in the chamber with the product.
  2. Next, route the cord to the center, front of the Cool Cube™. (If you have not disconnected the cord from the device, do so now.)
  3. Take the plug end of the cord and slide it down between the insulation panel and outer wall of the case about 3” to the black flexible grommet.
  4. Push the plug end of the cord through the flexible grommet (from the inside out).
    • The design allows for the grommet to be removed or possibly popped out during this process. Route the cord through the grommet and re-insert if necessary.
  5. Place the last PCM panel on top to complete the chamber.
  6. Plug the cord into the temperature monitor and place it in the pocket of the Cool Cube™.
  7. Close the lid of the Cool Cube™.

One moment of caution here. Routing a cord through the open lid and not utilizing the grommet hole will likely inhibit the lid from closing completely and could damage or sever the cord when closing the lid.

**Best Practice: Condition the probe to the target temperature before integrating it into the Cool Cube™ chamber.

Cool Cube™ 96

Routing a Corded Probe through the Cool Cube™96

The Cool Cube™ 96 is equipped with an elastic, external pocket to hold a temperature monitor (or other things) during use. When using a device with a corded probe, here’s how you can do it:

  1. Slide out the front PCM panel being careful not to disturb the product arrangement.**Be cautious of rings/jewelry on this next step.**
  2. Place the probe within the chamber as if it were the product. Route the cord to the center, front of the Cool Cube™. (If you have not disconnected the cord from the device, do so now.)
  3. Slide a hand between the outer case and front Styrofoam insulation to create about 1” of space, the front vacuum insulated panel will flex slightly.
  4. Take the plug end of the cord and slide it down between the foam and outer wall of the case about 2” to the black flexible grommet.
    • The design allows for the grommet to be removed or possibly popped out during this process. Route the cord through the grommet and re-insert if necessary.
  5. Push the plug end of the cord through the flexible grommet, from the inside out.
  6. Replace the front PCM panel and place the final panel on top to complete the chamber.
  7. Plug the cord into the temperature monitor and place it in the pocket of the Cool Cube™.
  8. Close the lid of the Cool Cube™.

What is the difference between Excursion-Trac™ and Memory-Loc™?

The Excursion-Trac™ is best suited for continuous monitoring with the ability to overwrite old data, making it practical for ongoing use, whereas the Memory-Loc™ is designed for applications requiring strict data integrity, where data must be preserved and cannot be overwritten.

The Excursion-Trac™ and Memory-Loc™ data loggers are both designed for accurate temperature monitoring, but they differ in their data handling, memory capacity, and how they store and manage readings:

1. Excursion-Trac™:

  • The Excursion-Trac™ data logger is ideal for continuous temperature monitoring and tracking temperature excursions. It records the high and low temperatures at regular intervals (typically every 1 minute) and is capable of storing over 500,000 data points.
  • One of the key features is that after data has been downloaded to a USB stick, the logger can overwrite old data, making it a practical choice for ongoing monitoring without worrying about memory limits.
  • This model provides a USB download option for easy retrieval of data in CSV format, and it is particularly useful when monitoring vaccines or other sensitive products in refrigerators or freezers.
  • Key Feature: The ability to clear memory after download allows for continuous use.

2. Memory-Loc™:

  • The Memory-Loc™ logger has a significantly larger storage capacity, capable of storing over 1 million data points. Unlike the Excursion-Trac, it does not overwrite old data. Once the memory is full, it retains the original data, ensuring that no historical records are lost or altered.
  • This model is ideal for applications where data integrity is critical, as the raw data is “locked” and cannot be changed or erased on the base unit. This makes it particularly useful in highly regulated environments where tamper-proof data is required.
  • Similar to the Excursion-Trac, it also provides USB download capabilities, but it excels in situations where long-term, unaltered data storage is essential.
  • Key Feature: Data is permanently stored on the device, with no option to clear memory, ensuring secure and tamper-proof records.

Why is the data not downloading to a flash drive?

The unit must be plugged in with the power cord to download data. If it still doesn’t work, try another flash drive.

How is data logger data downloaded?

Plug the base unit in using the AC adaptor. Insert USB stick/flash drive into unit’s USB port. Wait until it beeps. Remove USB stick/flash drive (the data will be available in a .CSV file on the USB stick/flash drive). Video instructions can be found here.

Is there additional software required?

No. Downloadable data (if applicable) is saved under a .CSV format and can be opened in any table structured program (such as Excel).

How is the logging interval set?

Slide the MEM VIEW switch to the ON position and press the ADVANCE button.

How long can it log data?

The TM-6430/1 is indefinitely. When set at a 1-minute interval, it will start to over-write old data after 1 year (but log data indefinitely). The TM-6440/1 is 2 years when set at a 1-minute interval. Increasing the interval will provide longer a longer data life.

What are the Hi/Lo alarms and time/date stamps on the report?

Alarm tracking feature stores in memory each alarm event detailing when the alarm state occurred, as well as when the unit returned back to within range. Alarm state indicators include visual LEDs, audio alerts, and flashing LCD segments. Data for up to 10 different alarm events can be retrieved with the most current event viewable on the display.

How is the memory cleared?

Slide the MEM VIEW switch to the ON position and press the CLEAR SILENCE ALM button.

Do the probes have to go in a specific port?

Yes the probes are calibrated to a specific port.

Are probes interchangeable?

No. Each probe is calibrated to a specific device and port. Probes have stickers identifying the serial number of the device it is calibrated to, as well as the port it is calibrated to.

Does it have an alarm for out-of-range temperatures?

How to connect a Data Logger to a report that is downloaded from it, for tracing purposes.

When a report is downloaded to the USB stick and then open in excel to be read and saved it will have an ID# at the top. This ID number is specific to the unit it was downloaded from. Viewing Unique Device ID Number: 1. Slide the MEM VIEW switch to the ON position. 2. Press the EVENT DISPLAY button. The second and third lines will display the first eight digits of the ID number. 3. Press the EVENT DISPLAY button a second time. The second and third lines will display the last eight digits of the ID number. 4. Press the EVENT DISPLAY button to return to the default display.

How is a device recalibrated?

How long is a calibration certificate good for?

New units come with a calibration due date of 2 years from the date of manufacture. However, inventorying such products sometimes cuts into this time period weeks or months. We guarantee a calibration due date of at least 1 year past the purchase date.

As Found vs As Left

When recalibrating your measurement device, you have the option to receive data as “As Found“, “As Left“, or both.

AS FOUND calibration data is calibration data acquired prior to any repairs or adjustments being made to the device. Essentially, it is the condition of the device “as found” when arriving to our facility for calibration. This provides the user an opportunity to ensure that the instrument was reading accurately, and within specification, while it was in use. It offers valuable information and documentation to support an end user’s test results, and it also provides record-keeping on the instrument’s long-term linearity and stability.

AS LEFT calibration data is calibration data acquired after any repairs or adjustments are made to the device, i.e. the condition the device was left before shipping back to you. The condition of the device used to acquire the as left data will be the same condition in which you will receive your device.
